Hélène Leone in Music

After stepping away from the stage in 2013, Hélène Leone returns to perform at Vancouver’s 35th Francophone Summer Festival 2024. Her musical journey began in 2003 when she won first prize at Pacific en chanson, marking her entry into the French-speaking music scene on Canada’s West Coast.

In 2005, she released her self-titled debut album, which earned her a nomination for “Outstanding Francophone Recording” at the Western Canadian Music Awards. Her work blends classical jazz and contemporary pop, often drawing from collaborations with Francophone songwriters. Over the years, she has performed with various ensembles in Vancouver, Toronto, and Los Angeles. She has also participated in festivals like the Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver and the Coup de coeur francophone de Vancouver.

In addition to her music, Hélène Leone has dedicated much of her time to education and cultural leadership. In 2015, she founded the Canadian International School of Paris, located in the 16th arrondissement and certified by the British Columbia Ministry of Education Global Education Program. The school will soon celebrate its 10th anniversary. She also teaches in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia and serves as president of the Francophone Cultural and Artistic Council of British Columbia.

Nearly 20 years after her first appearance at the Francophone Summer Festival, Hélène Leone’s return offers Vancouver audiences a chance to connect with her music once again.
